But there’s a story behind everything. How a picture got on a wall. How a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple, and sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking." - Mitch Albom

The Tears of Yesterday

I long for the distant rumble of thunder
to drown the sound of my cry,
I long for the soft pelt of rain
to hide my tear stricken eyes,
I long for the cold wind
to breathe life to  my feverish soul,
Lastly, I long for tomorrow's hope
to erase the pain of yesterday’s fall.

In the Storm

Hitched a ride on a tow truck one stormy evening. The truck's destination is still fairly far from home, but I had no choice as public transport could not get through the waist high flood in the metro.

An occasional gust of wind would flap the makeshift cover and rain trickled down from the holes. We were stuck in the traffic for almost two hours. Famished and soaking wet, I was quite relieved that there was a store where I was dropped off. Bought some instant noodles, canned goods and crackers.

Many people were still stranded and I was mulling over whether to wade through the already knee high water.

“Miss, where are you to?” the man on a motorbike asked. He is offering me a ride.I stared at him blankly not knowing whether to trust him or not. Already cold and desperate to go home, I decided to let go of my apprehensions.

After fifteen minutes, I was dropped off outside our gate, safe and sound.

“Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again”. – Og Mandino
